firefly: Industry associations

Firefly are members of the most respected industry bodies regulating boat brokerage in the UK.

These bodies supply professional training for our staff, produce codes of best practise for boat brokerage and publish the template contracts we use during the brokerage process to protect both buyers and sellers.

The Boat Retailers and Brokers Association

The Boat Retailers and Brokers Association (BRBA) represents all companies and individuals involved in the sale of new and second-hand craft. It encourages the training and development of individuals working in this field and aims to identify, debate and resolve the specific issues affecting the boat retail and brokerage sector.

Members of the BRBA, which includes over 150 marine businesses, include boat brokers and retailers, all of whom must adhere to the BRBA Code of Practice. The code was enforced to heighten consumer confidence by providing a set of comprehensive regulations for brokers and retailers.

Alongside the Code of Practice, the Boat Buyer's Guide provides buyers with a list of considerations to take into account before committing to a boat purchase. Factors include the operation of a designated client account, RCD compliance and finance arrangements. The Code of Practice and Boat Buyer's Guide aim to make boat purchases seamless and risk free. Access to both documents can be found below.
